As a father of a boy who has been under Carlos’ guidance for basketball training as well as a player for an AAU team for the past year and a half. I am most impressed with Carlos’ basketball acumen and enthusiasm for developing players. I am also quite impressed with his level of responsibility and concern for the kids he comes in contact with. Anyone who is looking to improve their basketball program and gain continuity with a “system” will be blessed to have Carlos involved in their program, especially if he is placed in a position to direct camps!

First of all, Carlos is very qualified individual. It is obvious watching him perform as a coach/trainer that he knows what he is talking about. He handles both practice and competition situations in a very competent and professional manner. Carlos is well-respected by the athletes and our coaching staff. Carlos has a friendly yet firm manner. He relates to kids in such a way that they are motivated to perform well for him. Coaches appreciate the time, commitment and expertise he brings to the sports of basketball. Carlos has and passion for sports and people. It’s very obvious he enjoys what he is doing. Carlos trained both my 11 year old daughter and my 11 year old son. He was an excellent coach. He was always timely, responsible, conscientious, trustworthy, and dependable. We always knew that Carlos would be there when he said he would. He always functioned with the upmost of professionalism. I know there were some children who would only participate in training if Carlos was the instructor. He has a very special way with children, always encouraging while giving constructive guidance in the correct way to do things. He is very knowledgeable regarding basketball, but, even more importantly, he has the ability to coach all that he knows. Some are good players but are not good coaches, but Carlos was both.

My youngest son attended the ball-handling basketball camp. He worked very hard for that week, but didn’t complain he was actually having fun, learning and gaining new confidence in his basketball skills. Whether there is only one player in the gym or 150, Carlos has been a true professional in the way he has handled himself, with integrity, passion, composure, motivation and practical/understandable training. He’s working for all the right reasons, which is continually evident by his providing financial scholarships for those in need … in addition to being firm but patient with players that don’t have the best attitudes, when other coaches would have, most likely, kicked them out of the program.

Carlos Humphrey epitomizes the leadership that is needed in youth sports. Both as a parent and through my career contacts, I will continue to promote him and Elite Pro without hesitation.
